One word-uggh! There's one thing that I'm sure everyone else wants to know, why did the stepfather kill the toddler? Who could bear to kill an adorable little toddler? Was it a family feud? Was it a passion or lust for killing? This would send shivers down many people's spines, it did for mine.Singapore may have excellent security, it may be safe and secure, but we are still prone to acts like this.
When I first saw it in the news, I thought nothing of it, as the gate was left open, I thought the girl would probably have wandered off and got lost. When she still was not found, I started getting worried and hoped that was the case. I remembered the 'Huang Na' case and found that this was very similar. Then one night, I heard the news. Her body had been found, stuffed under Aljunied flyover. Why would anyone do such a gross thing?Of all the people, it was her stepfather, somebody she knew, who had murdered her.
I think her stepfather was either trying to convince people that he did not really meant what he did and actually felt no remorse at all, or maybe that really was the case. Who really knows? Only him and God do. I think this is really a sad thing and the police must have felt the same. The stepfather's neighbours must have felt the same pity for the girl and it really angered them that he had murdered his own stepdaughter. Her stepfather's acts were unforgivable and I think their blood probably boiled at the thought that their neighbour had killed his stepdaughter, and they drew away in revulsion.
This is an event that reminds us that even in the safest and most secure of countries, there will still be breakthroughs. No place anywhere in the world is protected to an extent that it is really immune to such things.
