Singapore is Hit by a Massive Earthquake!

An earthquake hits Singapore and you are totally unprepared for it. You feel the ground moving literally beneath your feet. You only have time to grab
ONE THING and run!
In 75 words exactly, tell me what that ONE THING you would take is and why you have chosen that.
Disclaimer: Please note that the event mentioned herein is purely fictitious and any resemblance to a real occurrence is purely coincidental.

If there was an earthquake the first thing i would take will be my dog. It has been with my family for nearly three years and she is a helpless little dog which definitely would need help in escaping from the house. She is afraid of thunder and lightning. What more an Earthquake! So i would take my dog if there was really an Earthquake!

If there was an earthquake, I will take my pencil case! With lots of pencils and paper stuffed inside, I will probably stay entertained most of the time - by drawing or writing.

And if I'm being evil, I can stab people with a pair of scissors, and steal the one item they brought.

I also keep a packet of ketchup in my pencil case as well. I can use that as ammo against ketchup-haters!

(Word count ends!)

I think that was pointless, but it works! XD And I had to remove my previous comment because it was not 75 words long!

Because I'm annoying: Whee! Second!

if there was an earthquake, the first thing I would take is my toy sheep because it can act as a cushion against flying objects and could be sat on, as well as keep me company when I am bored or to annoy other people who hate sheep. If I feel angry or something, I could vent my anger on the toy sheep and I will feel better but the sheep may be a bit battered.

exactly 75 words? Oh never mind, word count start next paragraph, ok?

If there was an earthquake one day, the thing I would take my coin box. It may come in handy later if I do need to buy something I need urgently, like food or water, just in case the relief operations came late to save us. However, I do not think the other people are willing to sell me their food or water as it will be very precious then...

If there was an earthquake, I would take my pet turtle. I bought it three years ago. It always listens to me and I’ve become really close to it. I wouldn’t like it to come to harm during the earthquake, and it IS a living creature after all.

Also, the turtle can move on its own, so I wouldn’t have to carry it all the time (and get tired) if I had to run fast.

I'm sorry, people. I'm very different from the rest of you.

word count doth start--
I would take my laptop. It is my much-beloved possession. I know it sounds frivolous, but my laptop has many capabilities, allowing for me to amuse myself with art programs or programs like Microsoft word, along with music. It is also rather expensive. If I happen to get near a place with broadband reception, then I will be able to access the internet (though illegally) and perhaps send a call for help. There’s my reasoning!

word count doth end.

Tah-dah! I know. It's a bit strange. But being able to connect with people in other places who may be of potential help is quite useful. (:

This question is really hard... but so here goes the 75 words:

I would take a diary I have been writing to someone for over a month. This diary took me a lot of courage and I intend to present it to a person I love yet hate so much.

This diary represents too much to remember. Even if I were to die, I would really die in peace when the person possesses this item in his hands.

I struggled a lot just to write this diary.

-end-

What I have said is all true, I would rather die than not give the person the diary after I have completed it. Maybe Grace knows a little bit about it ;)

I don't know what I would want to take if there was an earthquake. :(

[Word count starts here]
If there was an earthquake, the first thing I would take is a water bottle simply because of the fact that water is essential for survival. If let’s say, I was trapped somewhere without food or water, I could still survive with the bottle of water. Food is not as important as people can last longer without food than water. So I would take a water bottle if there was really an earthquake in Singapore.

If an earthquake were to strike Singapore, I would take a table as it can protect me from falling debris also with the stationary and paper in the drawers, I could write a letter and tell my relatives that I’m okay and there is no need to panic. Also with the table, if the floor is really bumpy as the ground had cracked and I desperately need to sit, I can sit on my table.

If there was an earthquake, the first thing I would take will be my organisation file as all the worksheets inside it can protect me from the earthquake. The stack of math worksheets I have should be able to make a bomb shelter. That should let me live... for a while. The paper can also be used for an emergency supply of food. Well, in order to do so, learn from Marcus Ooi.
(word count ends)
ps: Do not tell Mr Ang... or Marcus Ooi. I'm just plain bored.

I guess I’d have to take Peeyoh along for the simple reason I cannot live without him. Peeyoh’s been with me since I was eight and he helps me to sleep well. Have I mentioned that Peeyoh’s perfume’s to die for? Besides, Peeyoh’s a very nice companion to have. You can squash, punch or hug him and he won’t even complain! Yup, I’ll definitely have to bring Peeyoh along, for without him, I’ll absolutely die!

:) Natasha.

P.S. (this is not included in the word count)

-For those of you who were wondering, Peeyoh’s my very lovely, sweet-smelling, beautiful (yet kind of plump), not-so-white-anymore...um, pillow.

ok don't laugh.

I would take my one and only life. There are so many choices to take, example my family, my gameboy, my money and my cards. There are too many things to choose from. Taking my life would most probably the best options even if I survive, I would not live long anyway. Though many people will miss me, to me it might be the last and the most extreme final option.
This has 75 words

Grace on 8:08 pm said...

yes, Natasha, so I'll take my pillow too. Just kidding.

creative id3a for our blog, mrs. simon! :D

my word count thus starts from HERE:

If there was an earthquake in Singapore (touch wood), I would absolutely bring my most durable bag, filled with 1) money from my Winnie the Pooh ‘bank’ to buy necessities in times of need  2) my hand phone for calling for help or my friends/family just so that I can talk to someone at long last and 3) food, water and maybe (if there’s space) some clothes like a jacket and an extra shirt.

THE WORD COUNT THUS STOPS.

and it's exactly 75 words at long last after having over 100 initially. :)

I would also listen to music since music has is and always will be my passion. It is also the most expensive item I currently possess thus this is why I would take it with me if there really was an earthquake

PS: ONLY ONE ITEM GRACE

1 thing? 1 thing!
[can't decide!]
well, firstly, i probably won't make it to the bomb shelter or any kind of protection as I'd slip and fall into one of those big cracks. Next, even if i survive, there would be 2 things i need for survival, water and food,(air is all around us)so i would still die, so i would just take a sharp knife and end the misery quickly.

P.S. those who bothered to bring money, if u don't slip and fall to your death while *moving* to the store, you could just steal stuff...

Erm.. actually this question is rather... weird. reason is: Use your common sense, people!!! They didnt say it had to be tiny or something, so I would bring my whole house along!!! :D.
Ok nevermind
[75 words start here]
The thing which i would bring.. I know! my Nike waterbottle!!! I can use it to spray people who try to attack me, depend on it for water, spray more people,... maybe I can bully other people who try to steal my stuff (Ha! Im immune to Aileens with evil scissors and other bullies). And I also can take other people's stuff by spraying them and sneaking it away while theyre screaming "Aaargh my eyes!!!".
[75 words end here]
P.S: Hehe actually I'm also not using common sense... it would be better to bring a McDonalds stall along with me instead of my house. Food haven, a lot of milo and coke, people will pay me to buy my food!!! :D (well i would need to hijack a stall first... will think about that later ;))

I would bring food. :). Food would allow me to survive as after an earthquake, food is scarce. This with food( in singular), I would be able to use it to barter for more expensive things as people thing about their wants instead of the needs. I could also share food and collect good karma( Just joking)

Ong Jc on 9:36 pm said...

One thing!!! Only One thing! I have got hundreds of thing I can think of. I made it a point not to consider survival needs as it would defiantly be my holy water bottle and it will me very boring.

(word count starts)
I would most likely bring a good book. (Not considering survival needs) We would need to stay in a bomb shelter(?) for a very long time. “Time is extinct, now is forever, I hope you have a good book to read” quoted from a card game. I can get totally engrossed in the book for hours. Time would pass faster and I do not need to “suffer”. The book can give me courage to survive.

I would take a tablet PC and its charger (obviously influenced, thanks to Mr Ang). A tablet PC can play music and it has a Windows Live Messenger (Mobile) program so I can chat online (provided that the shelter is a wireless hotspot) and I can play games and enjoy myself amidst all the destruction caused by the earthquake. At worst, I can use the tablet PC as a shield to protect me from falling debris.

~[yongjie}}

ps. the water vapour expelled from the vent of the tablet PC can be condensed and then drank as water. (see, tablet PCs are so useful)

Also, I might stare at the pictures when I am bored. I do not really know why but staring at pictures keeps me from being bored.

If the earthquake is terrible and I have NOTHING ELSE TO LOSE, then, no point living.

I could strangle other people or whack them with my jacket, take their stuff and run!!!
And I can protect myself from other mean people that want to steal my stuff!

Yes, and the laptop bag [thingy] has a few pockets that I can put some food and a water bottle in, which will allow me to survive [which will allow me to live till a ripe old age of 130]. And I might be able to sell it for money [if I really need it].

I prefer to take my personal water filtration unit that I built when I was in P5. It would be handy as I can use it to purify dirty water to some extent so that I can drink. I can use it as a defensive mechanism. Only I know how to operate the unit, so even evil people would want to keep me alive. I can stay alive. I can save my friends. Two more.

[75 words Start]
The first thing I would grab is an extremely thick book or a set of extremely thick books, probably LOTR as it will keep me entertained for a really long time, and keep my mind off things. The paper can be used for an emergency supply of food right? I didn't choose a laptop as it would probably run out of battery after some time while the books won't run out of battery will they?
[75 words end]
P.S.
I probably will never finish those books as after I finish the first book I would get bored, then when I want to read the second one, I will forget the plot and reread the first one and the cycle goes on!

Fine word count shall start:
I will take my bed with me.
One, I love sleeping alone.
Two, my bed is bouncy!!!!!!!!
Three, my bed can be rented to other people for money, food and water while I will sleep alone on the floor.
Four, it can be used as a steadier bomb shelter compared to PAPER MADE bomb shelters like Marcus Wei.
Five, my bed has two sections so its upper section will be used to collect life-giving rainwater.
¬END OF THE 75 WORDS¬
P.S. Beds are nice
P.P.S Bomb shelters not made of paper are useful
P.P.P.S Beds might be edible
P.P.P.P.S Beds can crush people and steal their things, preferably labtops (to play)and Peeyohs (to sleep and also as it fits with the bed cos beds have Peeyohs, bosters, blankie and Toyyees)
P.P.P.P.P.S You cannot Pee on Peeyohs

I suppose I’d take my imagination along since it isn’t a material thing and would not need to be carried everywhere AND can keep me entertain forever. (:
If I need to take a material thing, I’ll take my dog because I don’t want to be heartless and leave my poor dog who's scared of everything loud. Anyway, I have had her for six years, times two of the time I have known most of you.
There, 75 words. Of course I hope that earthquakes will never hit Singapore Perhaps I'd take a soccer ball for fun. :P

i would bring a bag full of marbles (zamors and launchers)as they are a form of entetainment (don't comment if it isn't) and i can just drop them on something if i need to kill something small (for whatever reason)and if i don't have anything else to do, I'll just lauch them at someone's eye for fun and entertainment. Finally I could just whack someone by stuffing a whole lot of marbles into the bag and swinging it.

Oh... and those guys who seriously think that you can chat and play games over the internet, please rethink.

Firstly, all the wireless modems would be destroyed (there would be no source to plug yours in anyway).
Second, all the wireless internet providers would have shut down.
Lastly, all the chat and game servers in Singapore would have gone down.

There! 3 reasons not to bring your laptop to entertain yourself on the internet.

P.S. another 3 reasons why you should end the misery faster

If there was an earthquake, I would take my black box. It is my secret place for snacks and drinks. I also put in any change that I have in there. Thus, I will have water, food and water. Enough for survival. Oh, I also put in some new clothes sometimes. So, food, water, money and clothing. Me and my crazy box will survive through the earthquake if I don't get hit by a falling building, that is.

Sorry about the late post. I went to RI open house on sat so I had no time to post. Okay, 75 words starts...now.

If there was an earthquake in Singapore, I would take my Bible along. I can rely on that for spiritual sustenance and pray that God will send along someone to rescue me. I also can eat the index and content pages if I am hungry. Maybe I can use my Bible to smack down bananas, mangoes or other fruits to eat. I also can read it and draw strength from the inspirational stories in it.

There. Exactly 75 words.

I would take my Bible. Since I am a Christian, it would be useful for spiritual support and to get me through the disaster. If I am really desperate, I will eat the blank pages at the back (not that nutritious though).

Ok...so if there was an earthquake i would take my favourite pouch, as it has my gameboys, charger, over 12 cartridges, pencils, penknife, paper, tissue, money and even random things that i put inside like packes of salt, pepper (i can't do without salt and pepper), used batteries, glasses cleaner and kethup packets, chili packets, something squishy that i cannot remember what it was, a torch, a rope, more paper, a deflated balloon, unused batteires, candy, burger king vouchers and powder.

Ok. i love my pouch, and the paper is important as i would use it to draw, and even eat! (yep, habit broken, ability is not) i would also use marcus chia to ram down doors and stuff, but i cant take him with me.

P.S. The burger king vouchers are expired, just so you know.

I could also draw on stone by engraving to keep me occupied. I could shape tools like spears too.
