Don't know if anyone is free to read this. I just want to send my deepest condolences to Shawn who has just lost his grandfather suddenly. Shawn, be strong. Your grandfather knows that you love him even if you did not have a chance to say so. Our Chinese culture is not a very expressive one and we don't often (if ever) tell our family members that we love and cherish them. Perhaps this is a good time to really show our love and concern for those who are still here with us. Life is full of uncertainties.
When my grandmother was around, she would call me every day and ask if I had had my lunch. It was the same old question and she would do so without fail. When she passed away suddenly (she had a brain haemorrhage and went into a coma straightaway), I found myself sitting around at home waiting for her call. Of course, the call never came. But I waited still. Then I started blaming myself for always complaining about her phone calls. Then I made up my mind to cherish those I love. In our busyness, we forget often.
Let's not forget so often and try to be more appreciative of our loved ones. Do not fulfil
the saying, 'We always hurt the ones we love most.'
