Myths are stories which are not true and have been passed down from generation to generation. Fables and legends have a different meaning. These three words are always being used wrongly.

Myths are make-believe stories that have been passed down since the older generation. in every generation, the myth will change a little to make the story more interesting(but more unbelieveble).

For me, I think myths are well-known stories that are ancient people's way of explaining events that seem "magical" to them. Myths are usually untrue.

Hi Mrs Simon and juniors! Just thought I'd give my two cents worth.

Myths are essentially fictonal stories, anecdotes or even epics that attempt to explain the supernatural, or just anything which defies logic. One example would be the myth of the Minotaur. Myths can be made up to explain social rituals, society and religion. Thus, a certain degree of blind faith is required to believe myths.

A myth is a fictional story from the past which tells us something but doesn't really elaborates on its contents. Myths are an oral tradition which is passed down and many parts are left put as it is being passed down the generations.

Fables are the ones that your parents tell you before you go to bed when you are young. If they did not do it to you, well they did to me My parents did tell me Chinese fables at night. They mostly contain morals and animals are the common characters used

THE LEUNG_梁海鑫 on 7:30 pm said...

Oh yes, I forgot to add something to my comment. There can be many variations to a myth as they have been passed down over thousands of years and because they were told orally, the story might have changed numerous times. By the way, Why is Lawrence talking about Fables? I thought the post was on Myths...?

Myths are fictitious stories. They explain something that has no explanation. They normally include people with special powers like Hercules, Zules, Atlas and many others.

Rafe_THE_MAN on 8:51 pm said...

Xin-Yi, for your information, it should be "Zeus" not "Zules". Zues is the King of Greek gods and also the god of the skies, if I am not mistaken.

Myths are stories which are not true. The stories are about fictitous characters like gods, heroes/heroines, talking animals and so on. They are stories which have been passed down from generation to generation. They are passed down orally so there are many versions of it and sometimes, the story line might even be changed! Myths are also used, in the olden times, to explain things which they could not explain last time, as they had no Science.
If my name appears as "Unknown", I'm actually Christel.

Myths are old stories that have been orally passed down from generation to generation. Older generations used myths to explain things that were still unclear to them. Myths do not have any meaning and are usually untrue. Myths consist of fictional characters such as greek gods.

Teng Chun, you have spelled the word "fictitious" in your comment wrongly, if I am not mistaken.

Ryan Sam on 8:38 pm said...

Justin, your comment is really long, but very interesting at the same time. Justin, from your points of view, I really doubt you are a Christian.

?Dennis? on 9:23 pm said...

Christel is still 'unknown'...

Jonathan on 10:43 pm said...

Myths are old tales passed down by people to explain something that could not be explained long ago. So they created myths to "explain" how this and that happened. Now that we have science and advanced technology, we can explain these things scientificly, but myths also show the creativity of the people who made them long ago.

Ryan Sam on 7:41 am said...

Rafe, for your information, "Zeus" is spelled as "Zues" in your comment.

90mbtc.blogspot.com on 5:04 pm said...
