Dear 2009 Pupils (& 1 ex-pupil),
Thank you for your responses. They are mostly accurate. However, in future, I need you to respond faster and not
after I have discussed the topic in class.
I have removed one particular response as I felt that it may lead to misunderstanding. We must be clear about the fact that myths are stories that have been passed from generation to generation. They are stories that help the people of that time to understand natural phenomenon or perhaps to explain things that they may not have had a clear understanding about.
Myths also help us to discover more about the culture and life of the people in the countries from which the stories originate. It may also reveal to us their beliefs. However, it is not to be confused with any religion. To do so would be confusing to believers and may result in misunderstanding. Please be very careful about that.
Our school does not encourage our pupils to read anything that is damaging to a religion or is not teaching the right values and thus I urge pupils to be more selective with the books they read.
I end on that note. Please spend more time and thought before writing your comments in future. Remember the world is reading what you are writing. There MUST be greater responsibility on your part!
Mrs Simon
